Federal Reserve Governor Lael Brainard said that the United States (US) central bank is ready to be more aggressive in dealing with US inflation, which is one of the factors that could lead to a recession. Yields increased in the 5-year, 10-year and 15-year benchmark series. Meanwhile, the attractive yield of the 20-year benchmark, makes investors interested in this series. Yield FR0092 fell nearly 2 bps.
The increase in oil prices came after the German Chancellor said that Western countries would announce new sanctions against Russia. NHKSI Research projects that the JCI will move upward with a range of 7,100 to 7,200.
Market participants are interested in FR0092, which still offers high yields of up to 7.20%. This investor interest is in line with the signal of a recession in the US bond market, where the inversion of the US Treasury yield series UST2Y to UST10Y was formed again for the third time last week.
JCI closed higher by 0.5% to 7,116 yesterday. Market participants are still watching for the recession signal coming from the US government bond market, as well as rising crude oil prices which could trigger higher inflation. NHKSI Research projects that the JCI will move upward today, within a range of 7,000 to 7,200.
Market participants await the FOMC Meeting Minutes on Thursday, after the Fed had previously took a more aggressive stance to hamper inflation, by announcing its readiness to increase the benchmark interest rate up to 0.5% in the next meeting.
JCI set another record at 7,099, before finally closing at 7,078. Market participants responded positively to Markit data, which reported that Indonesia’s manufacturing PMI index for March 2022 remained expansionary, at 51.3.
Movements in global stock markets, US Treasury yields, and commodity prices remained the market moving sentiment in early 2Q22. NHKSI Research projects that the JCI will move downward (technical correction) today, with a range of 7,000-7,100.
