The JCI closed the first Monday of 2026 with a gain, reaching a new all-time high, up 1.27% to 8,859.19.
U.S. equity markets declined for a third consecutive session after minutes from the Federal Reserve’s December meeting revealed a more cautious stance on further interest rate cuts. The JCI began 2026 on a positive footing, closing Friday up 1.17% at 8,748.13.
Indonesia’s Composite Index (IHSG)closed 2025 in positive territory at today’s market close, even as several other Asian stock markets posted mixed performances. U.S. equities weakened for a third consecutive session after the December Federal Reserve meeting minutes signaled a more cautious stance on further rate cuts.
The S&P 500 weakened on Monday as technology stocks took a pause after a strong rally toward the end of the year. As of 4:00 p.m. ET, the S&P 500 fell 0.3%, while the Nasdaq 100 and the Dow Jones each declined 0.5% (with the Dow down 249 points). The JCI closed up 1.25% at 8,644.26 in Monday’s trading (29/12/2025).
The S&P 500 closed slightly lower on Friday, although gains in technology stocks helped limit broader losses in post-Christmas holiday trading. Indonesia’s benchmark stock index (IHSG) closed down 0.55% at 8,537.91 in Wednesday’s trading (24/12/2025).
The S&P 500 posted another record closing high on Tuesday, driven by gains in large-cap technology stocks led by Nvidia and rising optimism over the U.S. economic outlook. The JCI closed down 0.71% at 8,584.78
The S&P 500 closed higher on Monday, extending its year-end rally despite thinning trading volumes due to the holiday week. Brent crude climbed 2.17% to USD 61.78 per barrel, while WTI gained 2.2% to USD 57.77 per barrel. The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) closed higher by 0.42% at 8,645.84
